WELCOME!
The Most Historic Senior Golf Tournament in Ohio.
The Ritter Trophy
George W. Ritter was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Ohio Seniors Golf Association. He served as President in 1943 and 1944. He presented the Ohio Seniors with the handsome trophy to honor the champion of each annual tournament.
George W. Ritter passed away in June of 1979. His will read in part: "To the Ohio Seniors Golf Association, a sum sufficient to pay for an annual trophy to be a replica of the cup which I presented." The replicas are presented each year to the champion. The actual trophy remains on permanent display at the Westbrook Country Club.
George Ritter's bequest is kept in a separate investment account and the earnings are used to defray the cost of engraving and replicas.
Born in Vermillion, George W. Ritter spent most of his life as a well-respected attorney in Toledo. Although he is well remembered for his civic contributions, we shall honor him as one who made a significant impact on the Ohio Seniors Golf Association.
